As 9/11 Illnesses Mount, NYC Moves To Aid Responders' Families


New York City could soon expand aid for the families of 9/11 first-responders as sicknesses mount 18 years after the infamous attacks. Mayor Bill de Blasio proposed local legislation Tuesday to provide health insurance for the survivors of all city employees who die from 9/11-related illnesses. The bill would ensure that the families of as many as 5,000 sanitation workers, correction officers and other municipal employees have access to health care after their loved ones are gone, city officials said.
