Middlesex 9/11 Memorial (South Amboy)

Description: The Middlesex Memorial at South Amboy was built into a hill overlooking the Raritan Bay. The site features a courtyard and a circular retaining wall with benches along the inside, and is covered by an ornamental arbor, providing shade for visitors. In the center is a four foot high bronze eagle, which looks out onto the Raritan Bay towards the former site of the World Trade Center. On the base of the statue is a quote from Daniel Webster which reads:

“May our country itself become a vast and splendid monument, not of oppression and terror, but of wisdom, of peace and of liberty, upon which the world may gaze with admiration forever.”
