Description: This Memorial was dedicated in September 2005. It honors the memory of those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The memorial consists of four Zelkova trees, which grow to be 60 to 70 feet tall with arching branches, one for each of the four borough residents lost that day. An engraved bench honors each resident and is located between the four trees and smaller flowering crab apple trees. The centerpiece of the monument is a 3-foot-diameter antique urn, which is filled with seasonal flowers and is placed on a granite pedestal. On that pedestal is inscribed a proverb about remembrance.
