Description: The 9-11 Memorial at St. Joseph’s Chapel uses bronze statues of patron saints to commemorate the men and women who lost their lives as well as those who were involved in the rescue efforts of 9/11. “St. Florian” honors the firefighters and “St. Michael the Archangel” honors the police officers who died on September 11, 2001. “St. Joseph” honors those who survived, all other workers who died, those who worked on the recovery and rebuilding, and all who were bereaved by the tragedy. Lastly, “St. Mary Magdalene” honors those who serve, the airline employees and passengers and the thousands of volunteers who provided their time and energy in the recovery effort.
