City: Saxonburg

Description:

Purpose: The purpose is twofold: to honor those who lost their lives on September 11 and to provide a space that promotes peace, a place where individuals can experience inner peace and contemplate peace in the world. Judith Focareta was moved to create this garden after she read an article about volunteer planting bulbs in New York City parks with bulbs that had been donated by a florist in Amsterdam.

Reason site was selected: Public access is available.

Events planned for site: Interaction through written materials at site.

Do you believe your memorial is a sacred place?: It is a serene garden space where contemplation and inner peace can be achieved; where nature serves to soothe the spirit; and where people may find a sense of renewal and inspiration.
