The 9/11 hijackers exploited significant weaknesses in America’s air defenses, only some of which have been addressed by the government. A secure transportation network is vital not only for the safety of America’s citizens, but also for the stability of our economy.  

Because of the nature of the plot, the 9/11 Commission recommendations on securing transportation were limited to Air Travel, such as tighter screening by inspectors at the Transportation Security Administration, as shown in the photo. However, VOICES has added additional information on Port Security and the ways that government is acting to secure other transportation networks.
